Preparing engaging lessons, coordinating essay entries, and shepherding an entire class on a farm visit can be exhilarating yet draining for educators. Many teachers find that safeguarding their own well-being is key to sustaining the enthusiasm these hands-on programs demand, and some under a physician’s guidance manage stress or seasonal fatigue with medications such as Wellbutrin, allowing them to remain fully present for their students. Modeling this kind of thoughtful self-care shows young learners that mental health is as important as any academic standard. When teachers thrive, every smart-board session about Ohio livestock and every field-trip essay comes alive with renewed energy.
All essays are due by March 9, 2018.
